The Holland Theatre is over-joyed to have received the generous support from The Jeffris Family Foundation of Janesville, WI. The Holland Theatre’s 2016 application for a Challenge Grant was awarded in the amount of $430,000.00. The Jeffris Foundation is “dedicated to the Midwest’s cultural history and heritage through preserving regionally and nationally important historic buildings and decorative arts projects.” This Challenge Grant requires that The Holland Theatre raise funds to match the grant twice, for a total project of $1,290,000. These funds will be used for specific restorations and improvements as accepted by the Jeffris Foundation in the application. A completed Historic Structures Report (HSR), funded by the Jeffris Foundation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, was completed. Written with the support of Chambers, Murphy and Burge (Akron, OH) and local architect Karen Beasley (Beasley Architecture, Bellefontaine, OH), the HSR document serves as the foundation of the restoration efforts going forward. The Holland Theatre qualified for an application to the Jeffris Family Foundation based on its Historic significance as an atmospheric theatre and as a site on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Holland Theatre Fundraising Committee has been steadily at work over the past two years executing a Capital Campaign to generate the matching funds within the time frame set by the Jeffris Family Foundation. Please feel free to contact the theatre’s director at director@thehollandtheatre.net for any additional information on the progress of the grant.
